Microsoft Authenticator approvals failing
Which version of the software are you running?
Using Microsoft Authenticator (which worked before) to authenticate to log in to my work remote desktop. The approval notification came up but then didn't seem to send through to the remote login. It just hung as though I hadn't sent an approval. I reinstalled MS Authenticator (version 6.2104.2518), restarted my phone, removed and readded the account - then when sending the test authentication, oit went into an endless loop of requesting me to unlock the screen lkock, which I did, then hitting approve, then requesting me to unlock the screen lock etc. An error came up on screen saying that the app had crashed too many times and asking me to send a bug report.
I should have clicked on "Approve" when the notification came up, then been prompted to unlock the screen lock Then a notification should have appeared on my phone screen saying "Approved" and the attempt to login to my remote desktop should have continued.
Steps to reproduce
Set up MFA on Microsoft office.com, with Microsoft authenticator Microsoft authenticator has screen lock enabled (default) Set up authenticate by notification in office.com Try to confirm account set up
Is there a workaround?
I have switched off screen lock, which feels less secure, but then the authentication works
Describe the impact this has on your everyday experience
Low/Cosmetic- The behavior doesn't keep me from doing what I need to do
Medium impact- I have alternatives (or a workarounds) that mitigate the problem
High impact/Blocking- The alternatives or workaround are not enough
