No upgrade from Android 7 19.12.1-beta1 versions
Which version of the software are you running?
This issue affects the late Android 7 beta versions, which include experimental version of the dual SIM toggles.
- Fairphone OS 19.12.1-beta1
- Fairphone Open 19.12.1-beta1
We currently don't provide an official upgrade path for these beta versions. The Fairphone 2 Updater app will not show the Android 9 upgrade (even if the Updater app is updated to the latest version).
The Android 7 19.12.1-beta1 versions included experimental version of the dual SIM toggles. The current versions of Android 9 do not have this feature. Therefore, on upgrade disabled SIM cards could become unusable.
The 19.12.1-beta1 versions should receive a regular upgrade to Android 9 through the Updater app.
Is there a workaround?
We currently don't officially support upgrading from the Android 7 19.12.1-beta1 versions. However, at your own risk, you can do the following:
- Enable all SIM cards in your phone.
- Follow the manual Android 9 installation instructions for Fairphone OS or Fairphone Open, respectively.
