Music app is missing

Which version of the software are you running?

Fairphone Open 21.11.1-rel.0

What happened?

The Music app is no longer available out-of-the-box.

Expected behavior

On Android 5, 6, 7 and 9, Fairphone Open included the Music app by default, but now it's no longer there.

Steps to reproduce

Music app is not present in the launcher.

Is there a workaround?

Install any music app through an app store.

The AOSP Music app is no longer maintained by AOSP, which does not make it a great candidate for including again. In the worst case we have to drop it altogether and let the user install a music app by themselves.

Describe the impact this has on your everyday experience

  • Medium impact - I have alternatives (or a workarounds) that mitigate the problem
